New VTA SmartPass Changes

On January 1, 2018, VTA (Valley Transit Authority) changed the Eco pass name to SmartPass.  Along with the name change and fare increase, the Smart Pass will no longer be valid on express bus service.  This includes access to the Dumbarton Bridge Express, Highway 17 Express and Monterey –Salinas Transit Express operators.

An additional $2.25 fare required for the Express Route can be paid with electronic cash placed on the Clipper card (best price). Use the VTA ticket vending machine or VTA online to load e-cash value. Online process may take 3-5 days to recognize e-cash loaded on card, whereas, vending machines will be immediate.
